The art and science of folding

It all begins with a single fold.

Paul Jackson has been a professional paper engineer and origami artist since 1983. He was the first origami professional in Europe.

Fine Art trained in the UK, he was one of the pioneers of origami as Fine Art, away from conventional model making. He has exhibited widely, pioneering many radical new folding techniques.

In a diverse career, he has written more than 40 origami and paper engineering books for adults and children, including the influential bestseller 'Folding Techniques for Designers’ (2011), which has become a standard text in many Schools of Design. Translated into 11 languages, the book established folding as an essential language of design for designers of all specialties, from Fashion to Architecture. Paul has taught his 'Sheet to Form' courses and workshops in more than 80 Schools of Design in 12 countries. Over the years, he has worked with many manufacturing and media companies, making products, movie props, and more.

In 2000, Paul met and married the Israeli origami artist Miri Golan and relocated to Tel Aviv. Together, they have developed the e-Learning Origametria program that uses origami to teach topics of curriculum geometry, from Grades 1-7. As of 2021, it is taught weekly in 620 schools and reaches 130,000 children. In 2018, the program was accepted into the National Curriculum for Mathematics, a world-first for origami.
